Cebuano style guide

This brief supplement covers voice and terminology. It is not a complete grammar. Apply the shared localization review and house voice; adaptations are acknowledged in credits.

Local usage

Use formal but familiar Cebuano. Keep established technical terms in their original spelling when no accurate local equivalent exists; do not invent a phonetic transliteration for consistency alone.

Prefer a clear, established Cebuano term when it conveys the intended technical meaning. A retained English term is a terminology decision, not a rule that all technical vocabulary must remain untranslated. Keep product names and actual interface labels recognizable.

Interface review

Review Cebuano wording as Cebuano. Do not import a Tagalog label or affix rule solely because it appears in a related localization guide. Have a proficient reviewer settle uncertain terms against the product and the documented audience.

When simplifying a phrase, preserve its purpose: a project kickoff meeting must remain identifiable as a kickoff meeting if that distinction matters to the task. Check complete messages, substituted values, counts and expanded labels in the interface. Shorter wording must retain conditions, warnings and uncertainty.
