Esperanto style guide

This brief supplement covers interface wording. It is not a complete grammar. Apply the shared localization review and house voice; adaptations are acknowledged in credits.

Local usage

Use the imperative -u when the app asks the reader to act. For action labels, use an infinitive or action noun; for progress, use an action noun that describes what is happening. These are interface conventions, not a restriction on every grammatical use of the -u form.

Ask the reader to act	Malfermu dosieron.	Open a file.
Name an action	Malfermi dosieron	Open a file
Report loading in progress	Ŝargado…	Loading…

A loading message does not establish that an operation has finished. Nor should it replace a reading message merely because both concern files. Preserve the operation and its state.

Usage and interface review

Consult PMEG for grammar and PIV for word usage when a choice is disputed. Check terminology against the product; dictionary inclusion alone does not settle which sense a label needs.

Preserve ĉ, ĝ, ĥ, ĵ, ŝ and ŭ in ordinary text. Review substituted values, complete count messages and expanded labels with a proficient Esperanto reviewer. Keep the literal spelling of protected identifiers and existing interface labels.
