Tagalog style guide

This brief supplement covers voice and terminology for the documented Tagalog/Filipino audience; the separate Filipino page has its own scope. It is not a complete grammar. Apply the shared localization review and house voice; adaptations are acknowledged in credits.

Local usage

Use formal but familiar language for the documented audience. Keep technical terms and protected names consistent, and do not import a literal idiom that changes the intended meaning.

Use an established local technical term when it is accurate and familiar. Where an approved borrowing is needed, retain its agreed spelling. Do not mechanically replace every borrowed term or leave every technical term untranslated.

Interface review

Keep grammatical number and sequence distinct. Isara ang isang tab means to close one tab; Isara ang pangalawang tab identifies the second tab. A numeric substitution must not turn a quantity into an ordinal, or an ordinal into a quantity.

Have a proficient reviewer check natural phrasing and disputed terms. Review complete messages with real values, counts and expanded text. Preserve literal names, placeholders and actual interface labels while adapting the surrounding sentence.
